It's time for us to part with our Yaesu 6 and 2 meter portables. I am the original owner for both. They have received very light use. Mostly while sitting out on the balcony. The 290R MKII was used to check into the NLRS Sunday evening net for the most part.
Neither radio has been used in roving. They both have a mobile bracket, but they have never been used. They both have the linear amplifier. The 6 meter output is 10 watts, the 2 meter about 20. They can be used in the low power position and run about 3 watts out. I just worked K4SH in Florida sitting out on the balcony running three watts to a loop.
They come with a detachable battery compartment that holds C cells. The current complement of batteries is included. When run off the C cells, the output is about 3 watts in high and 500mw in low. There is a 5/8 wave antenna and a rubber duck for 2 and a base loaded whip for 6. When you run the battery power, the antennas twist onto a bnc on the front panel. With the amplifier attached, an SO239 is ready to accept your coaxial cable.
They both have touch tone mics...although neither has the optional PL installed. CW, SSB, & FM. $250 for each, plus shipping from Chicagoland. If you want both, no extra charge for shipping.
They'll be off to ebay if there are no takers. Thanks for reading.
