Update...
I posted last month looking for suggestions to remedy strong interference
from TV channel 3 at my QTH. I had the local cable company come out to
check for leaks and they replaced all of my cable runs but the problem
persisted. I also noticed that the local 6 meter beacon, which is running
at 100 watts and is located 5 miles away, was being heard over much of the
band and was completely wiping out 50.125.
The consensus of the group here was that my issue was due to the lacking out
of band rejection on the Icom 706MKIIG.
I ended up ordering the I.C.E. model 412 filter and it has totally resolved
the problem. The interfering signal, which was S9+40 has disappeared.
Also, the local beacon is now only audible on its actual frequency.
Hopefully my experience will help any of you guys who are struggling with TV
3 or other interference issues. For $39, it was a cheap and effective fix!
Thanks for the advice guys and looking forward to finally working some
stations to the south during the January VHF test.
73,
Patrick KB0BRO
