Hi All,

I have been copying the NEW beacon on 10 GHz. It uses FSK keying with
the higher frequecny being 10.368298 GHz and the lower frequency being
10.358290 GHz. I found the beacon to peak two places one direct path and
the second reflected path maybe off of downtown. Both signals peak with
the dish on the horizon. The signals on the two peaks were close to the
same S-3. The
peak most north was sharp while the peak further south was broad.

I did some calculations on beam width and I came up with 49 degrees for the
beacon horn. Dave thought it was 30 degrees. I need to do some
verification on the path from maps which peak is off down town and which
is direct.

I any event Santa with his new !0 GHz equipment should be able to find the
twin cities without any trouble.

I want to get a mobile receiver going and check this area for signal
strengths at various sites.

We should be able to do some experimenting with using the beacon as a freq
standard and to some extent bearing checks and signal strength vs
locations checks.

Thanks Dave. That is a nice present for the 10 GHz group.

Merry Christmas to All.
