I'm going to burn some NLRS bandwidth just to let all know what is shaping
up for this next weekends second installment of the 10GHz contest (Sept
18/19).
W0ZQ, N0KP, KD0JI, and N0UK are headed to Sisseton, SDak. We will operate
from EN15kp on Saterday and somewhere just south of there on Sunday (10 mile
rule). We will be operational by 9:00 am on both days and run until dark
(??) on Sat. and to around 3:00 or 4:00pm on Sunday. We will be
beaconing/listening in directions of KNOWN activity, will have 144.260 (50 watts, 15' boom
yagi @ 30'), and cell phone coverage (we are going to try to use 10gigs as
much as possible for liaison).
In order to pull this off, we need some basic plans from the following
groups:
1. W9FZ and KC0IYT will be running the Red River Valley to work Sisseton
and other areas of known activity. They are looking for one or two more op's
to join them. Please contact W9FZ for details.
2. WB0LJC, W0AUS, N0NAS, and KC0P will be running from sites around the
greater Twin Cities area. This group is basically full as we are looking to
keep team size in the three to five range to maximize opportunities for all.
3. WA2VOI is headed for Mt. Tom near Wilmar, MN. Not sure what day Donn
is looking at.
4. The EN44 guys are looking to activate Elk Mound and possibly some other
spots in Wisc.
5. VE4MA has talked about coming south and joining with W0PHD (EN18).
KC0P has some very nice sites to run from south of the Twin Cites, but he is
looking for some other op's to join him. Having a southern group would
help all scores including the LJC/AUS/NAS group. Anyone interested in doing
some 10gigs roving with Mel in SE MN please drop him a note.
The long range weather forecast (??) looks good for the weekend, slightly
warmer temps (for late Sept .... mid 70's) and mostly dry (OK, not good for rain
scatter but I don't like rain scatter when its over the top of my head).
Again, lets get those plans established .... yes, we will NOT be holding
your hands to the fire, but we need some basic assumptions for all the planning
to work. Don't be shy, plans do change.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
