Guys,
I know it's probably boring to you all, but I finally made a 2M SSB QSO
from my mobile station today. Rig is a Yaesu FT-857 into an old RF
Concepts amp which appears to be putting out about 100 Watts. Antenna
is an M^2 HO Loop mounted on my homemade mount that plugs into my
receiver hitch on the pickup such that the loop is about 18 inches above
the topper. Talked from home (Bloomer, WI) all the way to my work site
near Eau Claire to a guy in Duluth. Mostly solid copy. About 7:20-7:30
AM. Would this distance be considered normal or was there some sort of
enhancement going on? All I know for sure is that it sure beats FM on
2M for "DX"...Waiting for my 10 Gig transverter to show up now...don't
think I'll try running that mobile ;)
