Hi Jason. Here are my two bits ..... or perhaps two dits .... worth.
On many radios, CW is generated & received via the LSB filters ..... if you
listen to CW in LSB and switch to CW you may notice that the CW pitch does
not change like it does when listening on USB. On some of the newer
radios you can select which sideband filter to use for CW ..... sometimes
they call it CW-R for "reverse". It nice to have CW on USB so that when
you change modes your receive freq doesnt jump on you.
If you want to call CW on 144.200 you should take this into account,
although unless you are exactly zero beat its not as big a deal as it
sounds.
Regarding QSYing to another band/freq, just switch to CW and blaze away
..... all operators will tune a bit to find you.
Crossmode QSOs (SSB on one end, CW on the other) are very rare on HF but
are not uncommon on VHF and up. Just be aware of the CW only band
segments on 50 and 144.
