My 10G project is starting to come together. Last night I powered on the
transverter on for the first time, and tonight I finished the bracket that
holds the transverter on the dish arm.
I have some issues with mounting the coax relay. With the relay mounted on
above the transverter output connectors with SMA right-angle connectors, the
relay sticks up above the transverter by about 1", so I have a pretty big gap
between the transverter and the dish arm. I'm hesitant to mount the relay
below the transverter; I can imagine it catching on anything that comes across
it's path. I've been thinking that it would be better to mount the relay
horizontaly, straight out from the transverter. I thought I'd ask for others
thoughts & opinions?
I picked up a UT-141 SMA jumper at Aurora, but it turns out to be too short.
I currently believe I need nearly 12" to go from the horn to the SMA relay,
including bends (90deg from the horn down, and then nearly 300deg around to
connect to the bottom of the relay). Are there better ways I should be doing
this, such as with another pair of SMA elbows? I have some new pieces of
UT-141, and I'm thinking of making a quick order of SMA connectors in order to
build this cable. However, if someone locally can sell or loan to me a cable,
that would allow me to possibly get on the air sooner (and have one less
unknown!) Also, what is the minimum bend radius for UT-141? I found one web
site saying 0.188in, and less on some others.
