I feel that I have to send this to the
list. I really feel that all of you need to take up this challenge. This
group like many WiFi groups have a great misunderstanding of antenna and
feed line theory as shown some of the piss poor CB like antenna designs that
show up on the internet. I think some of us need to step up to the plate
and win this challenge to bring them into the real world of RF theory. This
is not much different than when Jon and Jim were building MDS systems back
in the 80's. Maybe Jon's (K0FQA) house is the place to prove this.

Subject: [TCWUG] 7/13 Meeting Notes and Contest info!

Note: This posting is being sent from Loring Park, over the wireless
network!! Huzzah!!!

July 13 Meeting Notes:
We had our regular meeting tonight; summer attendance was in full effect,
but we did have some new faces and a lively discussion.

Ben Kochie talked about the St. Paul node; he's looking for an antenna and a
Linux or soekris box to host the cloud. He's also looking for a offset to
attach to the mast to separate two antennas (ham and wifi).

We also talked about Loring Park. We've got our grounding issue sorted out,
and will be moving forward on the install soon. The AUP is finished, and we'
re working on the capture page.

And, here's the contest info!!!! Feel free to post this info to other lists
and groups. The contest is open to anyone.

3. The final official GPS coordinates will be taken after a successful
demonstration. Any challenges to distance, throughput, etc. must be made
in-person the day of the meeting. (9/14).
4. If the winner can't reproduce his/her results, the next closest entry
