Hi Gang;
I'll give a full trip report later-- I need to get back to the farm to play
lumberjack.
I only got 2.7 hours sleep Sat night so I got a good nights sleep last
night.
Let me briefly say that I got a huge dose of RF this weekend and that should
tide me over till the MN QSO Party.
Let me give one quick thumbnail, however.
Why? Why do we do this? Why drive all the way to EN45 bucking headwinds that
really made the engine scream frequently popping into passing gear just to
maintain speed (think of the gas mileage!)? Here's why: because arriving
there and making my first q at 0316 and proceeding to make 62 Q's in the 44
minutes that remained with the nicest, most courteous, and savvy VHF
contesters a guy could ask for. That "rate" was a HUGE treat to experience
at the end of a long weekend. You guys were so kind to "be" there and move
quickly and patiently up through the bands. Just think in that 44 minutes
that it represented the following band breakdown: 13 on 6, 15 on 2, 9 on
22, 12 on 432, 6 on 903, 5 on 1.2, and 2 on 2.3. I share that last detail
because you KNOW the fiddle factor involved with some of the higher bands.
This areas ops are SO good that they made it easy.
The location I used in EN45 is in hilly terrain and NOT at the top of a
hill. I was on a diagonal road in the dark and naturally determining my
headings is not easy--but you guys gave me excellent chatter on which to
peak.
So, many, many highlights and the full blow-by-blow will follow within the
week.
