Donn,

I'm not sure I agree with you on this one about having to use the same 
equipment for all contacts.  I know that it is prohibited to have more 
than one station callsign (notwithstanding the family rule) use the same 
equipment for the duration of the event, but I am fairly certain that the 
opposite is not the case.  Otherwise it would seem inherently against the 
rules to switch to a backup radio in the event of failure.
