Hi All -

It seems like our club has been increasing in activity and in excitement this
past year. Last summer our 10 GHz group turned some heads with a huge outing
and scores in the 10 GHz & Up Contest. In January, the NLRS was one of only
two clubs in the country that turned in more than 50 logs for the ARRL January
VHF Sweepstakes. This past weekend we had possibly more UHF activity than
has ever happened in the Upper Midwest. I feel confident that the #1 single-op
spot in the UHF Contest for high power and low power (plus hopefully rover)
will come from our area. Next weekend our 10 GHz group will again push the
envelope and run up huge scores while making QSO's over distances we could only
dream about a few years ago.

The NLRS has become a National Powerhouse! We have a large amount of active
VHF/UHF/Microwave operators, a lot of enthusiasm and the interest to continue
to explore.

With all that said (or typed), I'd like to make a challenge to everyone in
the NLRS for the September VHF QSO Party. I'd like to challenge us to turn in
over 51 logs and to score over a million points as a club.

We've been able to turn in 51 logs only one time (last January) but, as far
as I can remember, we've never been able to top the million point barrier.
Turning in 51 logs would put us in the Unlimited Club category again and I do not
believe any club in the US has done this in the September VHF QSO Party.
This would put us in an elite crowd and possible put us in the running for the
top club trophy in this contest!

I want to see what the initial interest is in doing this. I will need
everyone to fire up their stations and be active. I will need everyone to cooperate
and help all our members achieve big scores. I'll need everyone to keep a
log and turn them in.

To help keep activity high, Jon, W0ZQ, and myself are planning a rover
operation to the nine grids surrounding EN34. We plan to have good power and
antennas on all bands 50 MHz - 10 GHz. If you do not have at least nine mults on
each band after the contest, we haven't done our job. My personal goal for our
rover trip is to top the 1,000 QSO count. I also hope we can contribute
150,000 - 250,000 points to the club total!

What's everyone got to say? Can we fo this as a club? Can we top the
million point barrier? Can I get at least 51 of us to keep a log and turn it in?
Let me know!
