Regarding this weekends Rovermania and the UHF contest, some quick
comments:
Rovers, be safe ! Drive first, contest second. Take a copy of your
license with you. For those who put up antennas when they stop be
very very aware of low county power lines. Before you set up, look
around. This is more of a hazard when its dark !
For all, keep a log, even if its just a few contacts, and send it in !
If anyone needs help with logging and submission of logs, JUST ASK !
Paper logs are OK but you must use the APPL log forms (or similar) that
are provides on their website at http://www.arrl.org/contests/forms/ .
Rule for paper logs can be found at
http://www.arrl.org/contests/announcements/rules-all.html (Section 5
Paper Logs). Most people are using electronic logging and submit
their scores electronically, but paper logs ARE OK.
Remember the 223.5 and 446 FM activity hours of 8:00 to 10:00 PM
Saturday night and again 8:00 to 10:00 AM Sunday morning.
The W0ZQ 222.061 beacon will be turned off in order to allow full
spectral use of the band locally.
Have fun. Take some pictures, etc., for sharing with others later, for
use in an article, and/or for uploading to the ARRL's web based contest
soapbox.
