At around 10:00AM N0KP and myself traveled down to Lonsdale and worked KM0T
(EN13VC) from EN34HL, a distance of 171 miles (274 km). We operated from the
Church on the top of the hill that is just due east from Lonsdale about a
mile or so. Mike was S3 to S4 on sideband for me while my 1 watt SSB signal was
S1 for him. N0KP worked KM0T on both 10 and 5.7 GHz. While standing
there I noticed that the view at 150 degrees is very good .... don't know what is
in that direction but we may want to check that out.
We then moved about a mile or two north of the Church to EN34HM and worked
WB0LJC (EN34JV), K0SHF (EN34JV), W0GHZ (EN34LX), and W0AUS (EN35JA) off of the
downtown bearing (EN34IX) with S2 to S9+ signals. Although the take off in
that direction is good, downtown Mpls was not visible through my telescope.
EN34HM to EN34IX is 32 miles. N0KP worked W0GHZ on both 10 and 5.7 GHz. We
then turned a bit more east and worked W0GHZ on the direct path with S9
signals (a distance of about 36 miles (57 km).
