You know all this thinking about power supplys has me thinking of my
setup which is a 15A Lambda linear power supply floating SLA batteries
at 13.8 volts. When I transmitt the system voltage sags a little, how
much depends on how much current is drawn. I know bricks and amps in
general are quite sensitive to voltage relative to the power output and
that got me to wondering when SSB peaks occure what sort of compression
effects I might have happening. These numbers are speculation but might
be useful for discussion purposes, say with no audio the voltage is 13.4
and Po=X and with peak audio the voltage sags to 12.9 Po=Y it seems as
though this has in a sense formed a clipper circuit. Would this make
the frickatives in speach difficult to understand?
Any thoughts? I could measure this with an audio generator and power
meter at the transmitt end but how could you measure it at the receive end?
Thanks
Mike
