I used to power my station with an Astron RS-20M (20 amps with front
panel meters) linear power supply, but found it to be marginal when
using my RF Concepts brick amplifiers (they are 170, 110, and 100 watts
respectively on 2M, 135cm, and 70cm). I'm now using an Astron RS-70M
(70 amps with front panel meters) and I'm quite happy with it, except
when I have to carry it up the stairs to bring it out to Field Day. . .
I'd worry about using a switcher generating RF hash, although QST gave
the MFJ switchers a clean bill of health in that regard when they
reviewed them a couple of years ago.
