After missing a fair number of Q's in the January contest because of my
inferior/non existent cw skills I have decided to actually learn to use cw for
on air QSO's. Copying 5 wpm cw for the General class license does not a cw op
make.
I am practicing copying cw off air and with various code practice software and
hardware devices.
I need to learn actually sending cw with something other than Writelog. I am
probably going to buy an Idiom Press Logikey CMOS 4 keyer kit. I looks like a
good keyer and a good kit for me to start down the kit building road with. That
brings me to the main question.
What kind of CW key/paddle should I buy? I would like to get one that would be
usable both at home and on the road. I have looked at the Bencher / MFJ paddles
and I am sure they are great for home but pretty large and heavy for the Rover.
What have some of you used for past rover trips?
Thanks for your help.
