Had fun this Sat. morning and afternoon on 10 GHz. Started out fairly early
at Birkmose Park (yet again) where Donn (WA2VOI) and I tried to work KM0T
(EN13). I heard Mike's first sequence and that was it ... he never heard us.

Undaunted, and believing that the favored land lay more to the east, Donn and
I took a short trip to the interior of western Wisconsin. We found several
spots that held some promise but were disappointed by lack of access, trees, or
a fantasic view in the wrong direction (we found lots of these). We finally
found a promising site with a view towards EN13 around 10:30 AM south of 94,
just north of country road M, on country road W in EN34su. The elevation was
about 1,165'. I gave Mike a call and nearly right away I head Mike and once
the dish was peaked I was copying him 100% on weak CW. After several
minutes, we had a two way contact, Mike had Wisc on 10 GHz, and I had my best DX to
date .... I think its 222 miles. We then worked W0GHZ with good SSB signals
to give him Wisc on 10 GHz as well.

I then drove through to the west side of town to work W0GHZ on 10 GHz from
the EN24/25/34/35 grid corner for the contest. Gary and I worked with fair SSB
signals from all four grids. I also worked John, K0FQA, while in EN24 and
EN25 on SSB. The last contacts with John and Gary had an aurora like signal
quality to them.

73, Jon
