Jon, good job on the 10 ghz scatter on the trees. Obstructed path is always
intresting. You never know what your going to end up with.

Gene and I down here worked lots of obstructed path too. When I setup my
portable 5/10 ghz dish on the back patio, all I can see are houes towards
him down by his house. Seems we worked quite a few times that way, long
ways too.

We did it on 24 ghz too on Friday night. He was 12 miles and 15 miles away
at two different grids. At all times I was pointed through all the houses
and town. 59++, must be lots of reflections. I was a bit surprised for 24
ghz, but wasent an issue. Crazy considering the dish was 3.5 feet off the
ground. However in this case, there was a definte peak for where the dish
was pointed. It seemed on 5/10 ghz, I had lots of play.

We also did EN14 on 24 ghz while he was on his way back from Burghardts. 63
mile path. He was on a hill, 1900 feet. 65% humity, light winds. 80
degrees. 5x8 signals but lots of QSB. So that was grid 5 for VUCC.
Beamwidth was pretty tight, took about 10 minutes of messing around and
pointing, repointing before we found each other. It was super fun though.

Sorry missed you on the FM rain scatter, that was pretty cool.

This afternoon I worked Bruce, W9FZ, from his apartment balcony to my
driveway in east Bloomington. The path is about 6 miles or so but what is
notable
is that the path is obstructed. Trees trees everywhere. I was able to
elevate my dish to illuminate the top of my 60 foot pine tree and Bruce was
S5 ...
good enough for a nice sideband QSO. Apparently the top of the pine tree
and
its needles make for a good scatter media ..... it was basically backscatter
as the pine tree was straight south from my driveway but Bruce is roughly
north east of me.
