Hi Donn.
Regarding what would we want to put into the handout, good question.
I would suggest that Step one would be to find a group who are interested
in working on putting together the proposal. Once a group is
established, then Step two may be to identify who the target audience would
be ..... my thoughts that spring to mind include local government (ie;
police, fire, city council members, planners, etc), VHF newbies, and the
Press. Step three is to design the brochure then Step four is to consider
total cost .... there are some trade-offs between cost and design.
Because we are all (on average) a bunch of technocrats, we all like to jump
to Step three because that is where the fun is. I'm still interested in
Step one ..... are you volunteering ?

Depending on how "fancy" we get, it doesn't have to be THAT expensive. I
recently got 700 double sided B&W copies and it was about $35.
A one sheet tri-fold handout can pack a lot of info if you use 9 or 10pt
fonts, and are careful about layout. On the other hand, we could use lots
of graphics and 12pt type and fill up a tri-fold with not too much
material.
What would we want to put into the handout ?

If we move forward with a brochure, I believe that it needs to live
within the guidelines and principles that are stated in our preamble and
which governs and defines our club. Towards that end, I am open to any
proposal that would include costs. What I would be looking for is a
product champion and a proposal. If costs becomes "significant" then we
need to bring this before the club members for a vote ..... our business
meeting at Aurora'03 would be an opportunity.
