Well ... I know this is thin ice .... But I work VHF because I like operating
VHF/UHF even though I have antennas and gear for the low bands.
I KNOW back 25 years ago when we were all younger that there was a lot
more activity on 2 SSB than what there is now. I also think we were all
busyer in those days too, but we found time to get on the air. I often resort
to the reflector or e-mail to get in touch with those I used to visit/
communicate with on 2 or 432. But REALLY hard to find out how the
band/s is/are via e-mail.
I understand that there is a 2M FM simplex freq that several of the NLRS
gang in "The Cities" use to visit on ... sorry to say 170 miles away they are
not heard here nor would they hear me. (I don't know the freq)
I use 144.200 here when I visit with KB0CIM, KC0KVD or K0MVJ hoping
that we might be heard "down south" and we could get others to join us.
After YEARS of calling with the amp on ... I have gone to just calling at
60 watts ... too much energy burned up in hope of attracting Qs for
locations far away.
It sure was nice to have PYO and ZYD join KB0CIM and I last night as we
ended our visit around 11:30pm.
Still listening and calling on 144.200 .........
