Scott,
I have two of the 1296 antennas, and I had to replace the reflector that was missing
on mine as well. The solution is easy.
1. Take an old ball point pen, remove the ink cartridge from it.
2. Measure from the base of the driven element to the middle of the driven element,
and add 1/4 inch to that length
3. Cut the ball point pen body starting in the middle of the pen body for the length
measured in #2.
4. Cut a length of coat hanger wire 5% longer than the driven element. This will be the
new reflector element.
5. Measure the diameter of the coat hanger wire and drill a hole into the side of the
ball point pen body down 1/4 inch from the top. Make sure the hole is a tight fit,
but not to tight you can't get the coat hanger wire into it with out splitting the body.
6. Find a sheet metal screw that will thread into the body of the pen and will be a tight
fit. Something about 1/2inch to 3/4inch long will work real nicely.
7. There should be a hole where the old reflector was mounted. It will be a small hole.
If not look for some indication of where it use to be sitting on the top side of the boom.
8. Drill a tight clearance hole for the sheet metal screw all the way thru the boom.
9. On the bottom side of the boom, enlarge the hole so you can get the sheet metal
screw into the boom and allow a screw driver head to get into it as well.
10. Place the sheet metal screw into the bottom of the hole and out the top side of the
boom, and place the new reflector on the sheet metal screw and tighten up the
screw to snug it down.
That should solve the problem for you. IF you need a picture, I can provide one for you.
