Hi Guys

Hey was this ever fun, AGAIN! No AU or E's to boost the score here, so it
had to be done the "old fashion way" calls, calls, calls and a bit of tropo. In
all, the contest was a GOOD one for me, but there were some real low
points. The conditions Saturday with the cold high pressure and 25mph
winds made conditions very poor. At times on Sunday conditions seems
quite good.

HIGH POINTS: (1)ROVERS Thanks all. Only W0AMT/R , WOGHZ mobile
and K0NDX were worked. (2) Wisconsin was well represented on this
contest for a change (for me), thanks guys down that way for looking this
way! (3) In the LAST 4 min Frank K9HMB (EN52) and Jerry WB9Z (EN60)
boomed into EN37 on 2 meters, both for new contest grids. I ran QUICKLY
with Jerry on 432, but nothing heard on either end. I had a nice chat with
Frank after the contest and then Don WA9KRT (EN61). Their signals faded
away about 10:30pm local. Odd but :>)) (4) Several new calls popped up
KC0MSY (Art) on 2 and 6 from EN18, K0NDX Jeff on 2 from EN47 amoung
others and a OLD CALL --- W0ANH Connie EN47 on 2 and 432 :>))

LOW POINTS: Bob KB9PJL and I tried 1296 over and over. Bob could copy
my SSB (or CW) most of the time, but the power difference prevented any
contact. I could just detect Bob's carrier, but never read any cw. Timing was
everything Sunday on 1296, QSB and changing tropo conditions. I think Mid
day early afternoon afforded the better conditions. Jim KB0CIM was not on
so no EN37 on 1296.... a REAL bummer. He is pouring conrete in his large
machine shed today, so was very busy. AA0WB and KC0JEZ both from
EN37 popped up up late Sunday and at least provided EN37 on 6,2,432.
Way too close to not working my own grid on any band!!

  In the end .......

6 Meters 47 contacts 16 grids 47 contact points
2 Meters 53 contacts 21 grids 53 contact points
432 Mhz 21 contacts 11 grids 42 contact points
1296 5 contacts 3 grids 15 contact points

Total of 126 contacts

157 contact points x 51 grids = 8007 points

This was my 2nd best contest ever. Really a very good SEPTEMBER
contest. Only the June 2002 contest, with the 6 meter E's bettered this
score. The addition of 6 meters of course has made the difference. I know
this sounds like SMALL numbers to you guys, but contacts and grids are
HARD to find up this way!! Only 5 contacts were less that 60 miles away.

As Frank K9HMB said "I can't imagine living up there away for the tropo!"
............ To think, I hardly even fish!!

Bill K0AWU EN37ed "Way north of the tropo line!"
