Actually the 11 element CC has gain lower than other beams of the same
length. Something like 5 dB lower than the original claims. Its possible
to increase the gain more than 2 dB on the same boom by changing it to 8
elements with new spacings and element lengths. I took an original to a
CSVHF conference once, long ago. It was the object of much derisive
laughter, though the second one with a modified feed had a couple more
dB gain.
At the CSVHF antenna contest, the CC 11 element was almost as good
comedy relief as the flattened quads of more recent times.
