Thanks to everyone who gave us a contact during the HF
contest this past weekend.
I got down there and there was no antenna for 6 meters
installed so I was working South Americans on a HF
tribander without a tuner. I was getting 59 reports.
I finally got up the 6 meter three element beam and I
think that I worked every active Brazilian station on
6 meters. I also worked some of the other islands and
many of the countries in South America. It was
interesting to hear PY0FF and his antenna set up. I
think he said something like 22 elements. Everyone
had an intersting flutter. I wish there would have
been an opening to up here, but I still had fun on 6.
The contest was a different story. We entered the
Multi-single contest for Sweepstakes, which we won
last year from there, but this year was different. We
checked the generator two days before the contest and
it was giving bad voltages so it had to go in for
repairs. We never thought we would loose power and
sure enough we did. We lost is after we had taken out
off time of 6 hours and then we lost another 4.5 with
the lack of power.
It was fun and neither one of us were very upset. He
what can you do. We worked all the sections and made
1800 + QSO's.
I operated before the contest using KP2/KT8O and made
about 500 QSO's. We we got back last night, there
were 11 QSL cards waiting!
We all had a great time and recommend operating from a
warm climate anytime!
