I have used a 5 element Cushcraft Duobander (65 inch boom) to talk to Donn
WA2VOI at 150 miles on 144.260 ssb on Saturday but it is end mounted and
clumbsy to handle. I used a 4 element Cushcraft (first 4 of 11 elements on 43
inch boom) to talk to Doug N0NAS at 110 miles on 144.55 FM last summer. Since
the 4 element mounts in the middle it is easier to handle (especially in the
high winds on these hilltops), but I don't want to lose the 150 mile
capability. What are your thoughts on the relative performance or is someone
willing to run an A/B test comparison with me? Home stations at 70 to 100
miles should be a good test. I could run Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM but I
am only going to go out and setup if we have a schedule. Comments please.
