Sure, I'll follow you. What time is all this going to start?
I'm interested in making some long paths and I don't think I'll mind the
driving. Its easier than the Duluth trip will be. Monticello and inward
should fit the bill. I really would like to get that fifth grid from
Monticello for VUCC but that needs someone on the northern EN36 sites and
would require a second setup in Monticello to be on the correct side of the
hill. This isn't the last opportunity anyway.

I guess I'm planning to follow Lenny around. I don't know the sites well
enough to easily change from one to another. And its easier to have even a
small group operating from the same sites. Hopefully we can keep it moving
right along.
It sounds like something that needs to be discussed real soon is how we'll
hop between sites. Is everyone going to try working each other and all move
at the same time or will we try to get double duty at each site by leap
frogging so we make two sets of contacts at each site. i.e. Gary is way
south, Lenny and I are way north, a small group at Mounds Park, and maybe a
third or fourth rover team out there. Do Gary, Lenny & I work all stations
and then everyone moves? Or does Gary work everyone then move while Lenny
and I work everyone and wait for Gary to reach the next site before we move?
Or would it again be better to have fixed groups at some sites while others
rover around, kind of like what we did in Duluth. The fixed site groups
should probably be the most distant sites that have good horizon and good
paths to bounce off Minneapolis. My thought is that if all the rovers are
working in towards the center, the distance points are getting smaller all
the time. But being stuck at the fixed site does make it harder to join in
activities at Mounds park..... And I'd have to use a different fixed site
on Sunday for "fresh" points......
If we want to do the "all rover" solution, I'll follow Lenny all day. If we
want to keep some fixed stations, I'll stay at Monticello. I don't know
what plans Jon has for the contest but we could both go there or I could
use a different site. Monticello is an easy site to find. I'm sure there
would be some good sites near Hudson on the north side of the freeway,
higher than Birkmose Park...... But time is getting short to find them.
Is there any consensus on when we'll start everything? We can work 24 hours
per weekend which means 7AM to 7PM or 8AM to 8PM each day is possible. Or
more hours Saturday and fewer on Sunday. Gary mentioned starting at his
most distant southern site at 7AM. I just groaned.<g>
If I might suggest, the people with narrow band only, like me, might be the
most help if they remain fixed at a distant site. The rovers should be
people with NB and wide band gear so they can contact the other WB stations
as they approach Mounds Park. I'm assuming we'll have a group of people at
Mounds Park with WBFM and they will hit the close-in sites to give each
other some points. As Gary and Lenny get closer to town, they should be
able to work WBFM if they have time. Or was the intention to do WBFM on
Sunday?
I'd have liked to be at the breakfast Saturday but Daytona Beach was a nice
place to be instead.... And I'll miss the next breakfast too because of a
wedding.... Darn.
