[NJARC] Building a B Battery for a portable

Joe and Bill,

Bill:  I think you have a typo:  " At 190 ma drain they would give you
about 900 hours use"  Data sheet says capacity is 235 mAh.  I think you
tripped over "0.19 _mA_" on the datasheet.

Surprisingly, my quick calculation for a radio using 1R5, 1T4, 1S5, and
3V4 at 67.5 volts is 19 mA.  That would be 235/19 =12.4 hours. I thunk
that's pretty acceptable.   In bulk there are cheap like 12-cents. EBAY
<https://www.ebay.com/itm/100-PCS-CR2032-Lithium-Battery-3V-Button-Cell-Digital-Scales-Calculators-Remote/142719064791?_trkparms=aid%3D555017%26algo%3DPL.CASSINI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150817211758%26meid%3D7f80520b0c8f4f40b3bca3d8c0ad1cf4%26pid%3D100507%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26%26itm%3D142719064791&_trksid=p2045573.c100507.m3226>,
23 cells @ $0.12 = $2.76.

If this is the Kent I think it might be, there isn't going to be room
for 7 9-volters.

I'd been thinking about using 2032 coin cells for this sort of
application, but never tried it.
My idea is to stack them in a tube, with a spring at one end to provide
tension. *Be careful of shorts*, you'll have a *LOT* of current
available for a short time!  This is a little scary, could it explode?
Might be a place for a fuse.

Let us know how you make out.

Al
