[NJARC] Ham radio meets Star Wars

Finally, a subject I can contribute to! I think I know more about electronic parts being used as props than I do on how electronics actually work.
I remember when I lived in Ohio there was a travelling tour of props and costumes from the movie on display at the Toledo Museum of Art. The show was called the Magic of Myth. I have film pictures of it somewhere. I remember seeing a pair of prop binoculars. I think they were the ones from A New Hope where Luke looks out at the binary sunset looking for R2-D2. I remember my dad pointing out that the adjustment knob appeared to be the base of a vacuum tube with the pins cut down short.

Maybe some day i'll give a presentation on the topic. I've spent a lot of time reading about prop building. There is plenty of radio parts used for props in lots of popular movies - Star Wars, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, etc.
