[NJARC] speaker repair - epilogue

Well, maybe eulogy.
Tried the re-repaired speaker tonight (see previous message below for
background). It wasn't pretty!
Sent it back to the fellow who repaired it. Says he played it for hours
to "break it in". Says that he got the freq response down to 55Hz from
the original 72Hz.
It sounds no different, after the break in, from the original repair.
It looks like the problem may be that the spider is too stiff, limiting
the travel of the cone. Any ideas??
I'll probably just give my customer the speaker from my Zenith 7S-529,
"eat" the repair cost and put that speaker in the 7S-529 for display.
So after all the pluses and minuses, I lost money on this repair.
Perhaps I can eek a learning experience out of this. Nah!
