Unlike a wimpy modulator on a VHS player (which will send a signal just
fine to a TV via coax) these B-T modulators have a bit more oomph (I
haven't measured it, but it's there) and will broadcast a reasonable
distance using even a coathanger for an antenna. I fabricated dipoles cut
to resonate at the TV channels on which I'm broadcasting. Obviously VHS is
the best choice for vintage sets, but I also chose channel 16 for my flat
panel sets in the belief that there wasn't much going on on that frequency
around here (I could be wrong) and that my dipole would be a more
manageable size than a VHF one. Later on I realized to my mild
embarrassment that a VHF antenna isn't going to take up appreciably more
room anyway.
