[NJARC] IF Coil help

I need to fix or replace an IF coil for an Air King A-511 


The coil is wrapped like a turks cap with 2 strand, cloth wrapped wire.  It looks to be about 33 gauge wire per strand.  Does anyone have any experience in unwinding these?  Is there an easier fix such as a replacement?  If I was to rewind the coil, what type of wire should I use?  

Attached are some pictures of the coil. The Sams sheet gives the coil a spec of 15.1 ohms.
