Gang,
I have to agree with Dave, conditions have not bee that great. Here's a
report from the strong-local-signals zone, here in Jersey City:
Friday and Saturday were pretty poor. I got distracted, and I'm just
getting serious tonight. There's no sign of Caracas on 750, or any of
the Cubans. I had heard Cuba's Radio Rebelde parallel on 600 and 670 at
the DXpedition, but no joy here.
The log so far tonight using the Drake R8B so I can listen to just one
sideband, and snuggle up to the locals: (This is with the home-brew loop.)
WHO 1040 Des Moines IA, WSB 750 Atlanta, KXEL 1540 Water Loo IA, WSCR
670 Chicago, and KMOX 1120 St. Louis. So things aren't that bad.
Ed, you're a little farther out, but maybe not far enough for
crystal-set DX. Here, even with a very good xtal set, I just can't hear
anything between the local. You guys a little farther out need to get
it in gear.
Good DX,
Al

Tuesday I didn’t have much chance to play with the radios. When I did conditions were not good at all. Wednesday evening conditions were really bad - couldn’t even get AM740 to come in. Did get KXEL in later.
