WE 542S - .01 Mfd - 500V - Axial - Plastic (Polyester Metalized)
WE 542D - 1 Mfd - 200V - Axial - Plastic (Polyester Metalized)
WE 570DR - .1 Mfd - 200V - Axial - Plastic (Polystyrene Foil)

Plastic ( polyester, polypropylene, polystyrene) capacitors use a thin
wound plastic sheet as the dielectric.
Plastic capacitors, in general, are used in practically all types of
applications including coupling, bypassing, filtering, timing, noise
suppression, and power factor correction. They may be used over frequency
ranges to 10 megahertz or greater, depending on capacitance value and
construction.

I have a handful of Western Electric capacitors. They are yellow, and
mostly flat and rectangular with a few that are cylindrical. They are
variously marked “542 S CAP”, “542 D CAP”, and “WE 570 DR CAP”. I have
measured them as .01 and .1 uF. Does anyone have any idea what the
voltage rating might be and if these were used for some special purpose?
  A picture is attached.

Thanks,
