Sounds like audiophile-grade caps to me! LOL. Gibson, the guitar company, sells new caps made to look like old black beauties for $129.99 for two. (That is NOT a misprint). In light of that, your filter caps may have been a bargain.
Also, if you folks keep sending out the names of the local electronics stores, I'll put a list together with web addresses and phone numbers. It might prove handy.

  In light of the Radio Shack closings, maybe it would be a good idea if we compiled a list of New Jersey electronics shops that are still in business. While mail order is great, there are always those occasions where we need one item, and need it now.  
  The only shop I know of is Wayne Electronics on Route 23. http://www.wayneelectronicsllc.com/
  
  It has the standard supplies like resistors, capacitors, wire etc. You'd recognize the owner because he usually stops by the Parsippany swapmeets. It's a fun place to browse and has a lot of little treasures. 
  For the record, Lashen Electronics in Denville, which used to be the go-to shop for a lot of us, no longer stocks components.
