I received a note from Onalee Fisher today that Jim's collection will be
auctioned on June 7 in Port Royal PA.
Jim and Onalee Fisher were early and active members of the club before they
moved away from New Jersey upon retirement. Long-time members of the club
will remember Jim as legendary in his ability to restore seemingly any
radio cabinet to museum-quality condition, no matter how far gone it might
be. In fact, he regularly advertised looking for "basket cases" as he
enjoyed the challenge. He brought two Zenith "Walton" radios to a meeting
one time and challenged anyone to figure out which cabinet was original and
which one he had build from scratch. Jim passed away nearly five years ago.
>From Onalee:
"I just wanted to let you know that all of Jim's radios, early
t.v.'s, parts, cabinets, many tools, all sorts of radio and t.v. knobs etc.
will be in an auction in Port Royal on June 7, 2014. I'm sure the radio
guys would find some interesting things if they came. This area isn't into
the antique radios like it was in N.J. so you have a great chance on
getting things at a reasonable price. It should be a great find to all who
come. When I know the time and place, which I do believe the place will be
in the Port Royal Fire House building. The auctioneer who is Steve
McLaughin is just starting to go through everything to list it. When I know
the time of the auction I will let you know."
