I know we're a couple of days away from the DX contest start, but was playing around last night and conditions were pretty good.
Between 8:30 PM and 11:30 PM (Eastern time) I was getting WSB, 750 - Atlanta; WHAS, 840, Louisville; WWL, 870 - New Orleans; KMOX, 1120 - St Louis; and KXEL, 1540 - Waterloo, IA.
Heard Spanish underneath WSB = possible RCR Caracas - no ID heard. Also heard R. Reloj at various locations.
Nothing on the low end of the band - too much electrical interference; same between 1020 and 1060 kHz.
All this was heard on two different lightweights: a Sony SW100 and a Tecsun PL606. Was just using the built-in antennae on each - no loops or longwires.
Hope conditions hold for the contest.
