Here in the historic Washington Crossing / Titusville area, we are still
without power. Fortunately, our 5KW generator is keeping us comfortable.
The only comfort we don't have is hot water. Many of our neighbors have
nothing. JCP&L sent a damage assessment person on Sunday to look over the
area. It only took 6 days to have them drive by. My next home will certainly
have gas for heat, etc... For all of the PR, JCP&L has not changed. The
entire city of Lambertville is still without power. This time, this outage
is costing me more than my monthly electric bill will all of gasoline I'm
using.
That's the update for now.
Regards,
Joe Devonshire

Hi Tom,
One word....generator! If it wasn't for my generator only 2500 watts
continuous, 20 amps, my wife would have never survived. I backfed my generator
to the outlet on the side of my boiler which in turn powered 1/2 the breaker
box so my heat worked, refrigerator, dining room, down stairs bathroom,
kitchen lights, foyer, 2 bedrooms and my porch lights all worked. I do use a
lot of CFL lamps. We also did laundry but I turned off the fridge not to
overload my generator. Best $200 investment I made last year from Home Depot.
I have a electric stove so no way my generator would power it so I shut
off that circuit breaker, my air compressor circuit breaker and my central
air circuit breaker.
Of course, if you back feed a outlet or circuit breaker panel with your
generator, you have to turn off your main circuit breaker.
Regards,
Sal

Hi,
Lost power on Monday night around 9pm, power came back on yesterday around
1:30pm. Spent 4 nights heating up canned soups over steno, and freezing in
bed.
Got so cold my dogs teeth started chattering. And my dogs took great
offense
when I commandeered their doggie blankets. Lost a few shingles, and roof
antenna got bent up but still picking up TV stations fine now that powers
back
on. Damage in my area was mostly limited to some downed trees, and power.
Many gas stations are open next to me in East Brunswick on route 18. I
went
yesterday around 11:00am and only waited 10 minutes. After 12pm lines
stretched
on forever. But in my area if you go super early or very late, you can
get gas
in under 20 minutes for the most part.
Be safe.
Tom
P.S. Wife now tolerates my Radio hobby a little bit more since I had a
few 50's
battery transistor radios that were put to use for a few nights :)
