And I will never forget that summer day in 2006, when I was living in
Staten Island. When the northeast, from North Jersey, to Mass, lost
power(again). You would not believe the number of folks in the street, in a semi
panic. I was working in my garage, with the door open. A magical thing
happened. The phone RANG! I answered it, (an out of state call), but within a few
moments, several neighbors came to "marvel", that I had a working phone.
They had heard it ring. In their hands, were cell phones, with no signal.
(Repeaters you see, were not required to have backup power in those days).
Their home phones, all cordless with line powered base stations, would not work
either. SO, they all made their calls from that carbon based, rotary
dialed black telephone, that was hanging on the garage wall. One even
complained, that it was not touch tone. I only wish I had a coinbox!
So in short (perhaps a bad choice of words when discussing phones).... I
am in full agreement, I will give up, the carbon based, copper connected
land line, when they cut the cable from my cold dead fingers!!!
"They had said that it couldn't happen again, in 1965, Then again in 1978..
In 2006, they said "It might happen again".

I'll bet they could miniaturize it to where it fits on the end of a
toothpick, try and use it then. I already have to hire a contortionist,
short,
thin person with a flat head to work on my car.
I lose the voice inflection when talking on a call phone. It's tough to
talk to a customer when you cant hear their reaction to know if your going
in
the direction they wish.
Put a 12AX7 in it and that should fix it.
