This would be a perfect Andy Rooney topic.

I am fed up with poor voice quality and the loss of full duplex on telephones.  I get messages from people I can't identify, even when they have said their name.  If you sniffle or there is noise in the background it trips the semi-duplex and interrupts what the other person is saying.  Or if you say something to the other person you end up both listening to dead air and starting over with, "hello, hello, can you hear me now".

You can have my 70-year-old carbon-based telephone and the landline it is hooked up to when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.  Don't give up your landline if you want to have a decent phone conversation.  Don't take it personally if I ask you to call me back on a real phone.  I am not pissed at you, but at your phone company.
