[NJARC] Rebuild crystal cartridge

All:

I have stumbled across my first crystal cartridge in a phonograph. I am fairly certain it is bad, and have begun researching how to go about replacing it. The cartridge is for a Philco D-10 record changer. I have done some researching and have found it is quite a common changer, and it is even more common for crystal cartridges to fail. Since I am relatively new to cartridges I am asking for some opinions, etc.

Is it worth attempting to rebuild a crystal cartridge? Has anybody in the club tried it? How'd it turn out, etc.?

I have a feeling my best bet is to cross reference an equivilent in ceramic cartridge form, but I just wanted to know how club members deal with this issue.

Thanks everybody, have a Great Labor Day!
