Scott you are missing two points. One being - are we a radio club or
an auction place? If we auction at the club or on ebay, then we're
an auction place.

I was a member long before we had auctions at the club
meetings. Members used to bring in things for sale prior to the
meeting time, sometimes junk, sometimes treasures. Jerry used to
sell radio books. Ray Chase always had great things for
sale. Ludwell Sibley had good tested tubes at fair prices. Ten or
so individual members always brought something for sale, and there
was a good selection of radio things to buy. It was great. Then we
sat down to an excellent presentation. Had refreshments and went home.

We had several weekend swap meets a year, and sometimes small
auctions at them too. Everybody went home with someone else's
stuff. You had the choice of leaving early or staying for the
auction which usually started at noon.

Now at our evening meetings we rush presenters so we can have enough
time for an auction.

I liked the old way best.

The second point is this - evidently our costs are going up. The
club/Infoage Museum will need to raise more money. Selling something
valuable at a fair market price will help here. Of course club
members should have benefits, but how do you fund the museum and
activities without money?

Dues are high enough. Another rental facility in the Princeton area
will be at least double the cost of Sarnoff (thanks Alex for keeping
the cost down all this time). So help us find another way to have
enough income for all the services the members want. A few more
volunteers would help too.
