[NJARC] Meeting Location

I've been reading these posts, and wish to add my commentary. Please
understand that these are are my opinions, and wish not to offend anyone.
When I joined the club some three years or so ago, I had some expectations
of what I thought I would see. I liked the idea of going to Princeton
(Sarnoff) since there was a great deal of radio history there, and centrally
located geographically statewide. Alex has been a terrific host, and will
shadily miss future meetings there. I do like what has been done with
Infoage. We can certainly be proud of it, along with the history, and the
amount of labor that has happened to get it where it is now.The problem with
Infoage is location. It is not central to the state, and as have been
mentioned can be a challenge especially during the summer months.
Personally, when the meetings are held there, I can never get there on time
for the meeting start. (Yes, some of us still have to work for a living)
Although Princeton is about 10 miles closer to me, this has not been a
problem. My point being - We still need a central location as well as
Infoage to conduct meetings. My kudos for Professor Mike to help out the
club for this! The other comment about the "cheap" auction club I feel is
getting some bad press here. The auctions are "fun" and allow folks to
improve/increase their collection. Isn't that what our hobby should be? What
I would like to see is ideas and commentary on two different topics: (1)
What "WE" can do collectively as a club to encourage some "younger" folk to
join our club so that our passion will not dry up and go away. Al's crystal
set seminar is a great example! Any ideas? (2) The last 2 meetings were
terrific with tech talks (thanks Walt!) and history. I feel we need to
continue this trend. Remember this is a hobby, and should be fun! We also
have the resposibility to do whatever we can to meet, greet, and welcome
with encouragement anyone with an interest with radio.
