A couple of observations:
I think there's a good case for meeting at both InfoAge and Princeton IF
we can find a suitable location.
When we moved out of Freehold to Princeton, about 20 miles, there was an
outcry from the Freehold gang about the 30 minute ride versus 5-10. I
had no sympathy for those folks as Princeton was 20 minutes closer to
Flemington, but still an hour total travel. So the lucky ones, within a
stones-throw of Princeton might just have to suck it up.
I now live in Jersey City. That's about an hour from both locations,
using the Turnpike and Parkway to InfoAge, or the Turnpike to 8A then to
Route 1 just north of Sarnoff via Rt. 614 and Quaker Bridge Road. (The
latter in mores mile, but ducks the Friday rush on Rt. 1.) The travel
time is just about equal from the intersection of the Turnpike and
Parkway in Fords, Exits 11 and 128. I've yet to have a serious problem
with Friday shore traffic when going to InfoAge, but I hear tales of
serious back pressure farther north on the Parkway.
Some years ago, I stuck pins in a Jersey map to determine the center of
gravity of the membership. (Does anyone know where that map is?) At
the time, it looked like a meeting place in Central New Jersey, say
Edison, would be the best compromise. The problem is this is a
high-rent district.
Our membership is considerably spread out.
Now we have InfoAge. At least some of the meetings, maybe half, are
going to be there. Get used to it!
My two cents,
Al
