Silly cartoon but a great discription of the sound strip on 'talkies'.  We watch Turner Classic Movies a lot and it is amazing how good the sound is from these 1930s era films using this system.

"Finding His Voice" is also on YouTube.com, archive.org, and it's on the excellent 3-DVD set of Al Jolson's "The Jazz Singer," a must have.
