Try connecting an antenna and speaker and let the
reflector know what's going on.

I'm suggesting that since the set is not showing any
signs of distress (smoke, crackling, etc.) you should
be able to give it an on-air test.

Obviously, you've got a bad part (resistor gone high
or open coil or choke or something) in the BFO, but
that should be easy to find and fix. The BFO is a
small section of the set. Turn it OFF at first and
find out what the rest of the set is doing.
