[NJARC] Crystal Operation

Here is a simple question, hope I get a simple
answer... ;)
I am working on the Hallicrafters SX-16, and am trying
to figure out the crystal switch operation. I
discovered the old crystal switch was bad- it would
click over, but with a muffed click, and not actually
switching. So I replaced it(junk box to the rescue!
Perfect match) and noticed when the switch is in the
"on" position, it is in the "out" position for the
crystal, and when in the "off" position, it is in the
"in" position for the crystal.
I looked at the schematic,(it is SW1), and the switch
is connected parallel to the crystal. It looks to me
that when the switch is in the "[switch]on" or
"crystal out" position, that it creates an easier path
for current flow, and when in the "[switch]off" or
"crystal in" position, that the bypass is closed,
forcing power to go through the crystal, thus
operating it.
Is this assumption correct?
Thanks!
Scott
