Darren,

  I haven't seen any of the proposed converters but suspect they are functionally the same as mine. Having said that;

1) My tuning is done in the converter with the output directed into the analog TV. My tuner output feeds into the video inputs of my 15 YO Sony via 3 RCA jacks.
2) The converter covers UHF as well as VHF.
