[NJARC] Parts Request

Jim,
These were originally 10% but I would expect to find most of them have
drifted in value (therefore the restriping). They would have dated to the
mid 40's and are shaped and sized about like current composition resistors,
unlike the end and solids of the 30's. I'm hoping for someone to have a can
of these for me to pick through.
In a display the bottom cover would be off and a mirror mounted below to
allow a view of the inside. Harry set up a 1930's radio for us in the museum
this way as the "visible radio" and it's a nice effect.
Since Hewlett of HP was at Camp Evans this would be one of two displays
honoring the founders of current companies. The other is Howard Vollum; the
technical one of the Tektronix founders and another Camp Evans alumni.
Incidentally I also am looking for a rebuildable Tek 511 (not 511A or
511AD).
Also does anyone have an HP524 series counter they could part with?
Steve

I am curious, why use "old style" resistors? If the oscillator will be
a working exhibit, won't the covers be on it?
Then there is the issue of the old style resistors having plus & minus
20% tolerances.
Sadly, having late last year sorted through my entire resistor and
capacitor repair stock, I most likely tossed into the trash exactly
what you are looking for. The few that I bothered to check were so far
out of tolerance that all went into the circular file.
In fact, the NOS body, end and dot solid carbon resistors that remained
from this sorting; I gave them away at the last NJARC meet. Then there
was the 30 or so pounds of NOS electrolytic aluminum can capacitors.
What didn't sell at the meet, I gave to JR for the club to use.
If I had only known....
Jim
