Folks,

Being somewhat of a Luddite I don't have cable or satellite just plain old TV via an antenna on my roof. Last fall I purchased an A to D converter and have used it to watch HD broadcasts over the air (OTA) on my plain old TV system (analog POTS) using an outside TV antenna. When you say 'no place to buy a converter' I guess that means in stores (brick and mortar?). I purchased mine on eBay from an individual. Also, I did see a Best Buy outlet on eBay selling the identical converter. I suspect the ebay sellers will not accept vouchers.

FYI Broadcast quality is pretty sharp but reception can be VERY directional - a rotor may be helpful depending on your location. I have also experienced some weather related interference where the signal breaks up or digitizes (is that the right word?). I don't use a rotor and receive 31 channels here some 30+ miles from NYC. Lots of them have been blocked since I don't understand the broadcast language or don't like infomercials (junk abounds). I purchased a Samsung brand converter which allows me to feed the video to a flat screen PC monitor currently residing in my wife's kitchen. I am allowed to watch it once in a while...
