[NJARC] Question about the Holiday Party auction:

Joe,

This is a "radio related" gag game, not a Pollyanna. Those
participating steal each other's gifts. The (at least) $20 is a
suggestion only, sometimes the gift is worth much more, like the
Tektronics scope one year, or the antique radio horn speaker
once. One time I got a cheap import $3. digital meter. (this wasn't
fair) It's fun to steal from your friends, especially after you see
their eyes when they get something good, only to loose it the next
round. (One time my gift was a pair of 199's. - these were stolen
several times.) Non-radio gifts are subject to Boo's at
times. Great gifts are Ah's and oooh's. Thin skin people should
only watch! The ultimate goal is to be the last one picked. This
way you can steal any gift (the best one or the one you want to zap
your friend by taking. A good memory helps here.)

Most women don't like this game. My wife doesn't for sure. She
thinks we're all nuts. Lot's of B busting goes on too. But it is
great fun to participate or watch if you like it. To participate you
have to have one gift. No gift, just watch.

One year I put two gifts in, and at the end they were really confused
to have one left over. (more fun).

Gifts should be "loosely wrapped" to hide what's in it (or
mis-shape'ened to mislead someone on what it really is - one time it
looked like an antenna on a radio, but was an empty cardboard tube
stuck in the package.). Strongly wrapped gifts prolong the agony of
everyone, as the game goes on for quite a long time - so loose is good.
